With an annual income of 25.5 million yuan (US$4.19 million) in copyright
royalties, fantasy novelist Jiang Nan topped the 2013 China's 60 Richest
Writers List released by Huaxi Metropolitan Daily on Dec. 5.

China's first Nobel Literature Prize laureate Mo Yan is behind Jiang Nan,
and children book writer Zheng Yuanjie, who was number one last year,
ranked the third.

The 60 writers on the list have earned a total of 34 million yuan (US$5.6
million) last year. Wu Huaiyao, founder of "China Richest Writer" list
said: "According to the book's price and selling records, the 60 writers
had made 3 billion yuan a year; their works have created lots of job
opportunities."

The following is the 10 richest Chinese writers on the list:

Name: Chai Jing
Ranking: 10
Royalty income: 11.5 million yuan
Bestseller: "Insight" 《看见》
Age: 37
Chai Jing (DOB: Jan. 1, 1976) is a Chinese journalist, host and writer.
She hosted a radio program when she was 19, and hosted TV program after
she specialized in television communication. In 2001, she became a host
and reporter with China's Central Television, and then worked as an
investigative journalist during the SARS epidemic. She published two books
"Use My Lifetime To Forget" in 2001 and "Insight" in 2013.


Name: Han Han
Ranking: 9
Royalty income: 12 million yuan
Bestseller: "My Understanding of the Life" 《我所理解的生活》
Age: 31
Han Han (DOB: Sept. 23, 1982) is a noted post 1980 writer and professional
rally driver. After he quit high school, he published his first novel
"Triple Door" in 1999, which became a bestseller in that year. Time
magazine ranked him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world
in 2010. His representative works include "I Want to Talk With the World",
"Like Speeding Youth", "A Fortress” and "His Kingdom".

Guo Jingming (DOB: June 6, 1983) is one of the famous post-1980s Chinese
writers in young-adult literature, and is also an icon of teenagers. He

achieved overnight success in 2003 after his novel 'City of Fantasy". His
novel series of "Tiny Times" became the best-selling books in 2008.

Name: Shen Shixi

Age: 61
Shen Shixi (DOB:October 1952 ) is the famous writer of children
literature. He is good at writing stories about animals, so he is dubbed
"China's King of Animal Stories". His representative works include the
Seventh Hound, Willing to Be Cheated Again by Fox, the Dream of Wolf King,
The Lasting Fighting Elephant, Gorals Crossing the Valley, and Jackal and
Wolf.

Amy Cheung Siu Han, also known as Zhang Xiaoxian. (DOB: NOV 3, 2013), is a
famous Chinese romantic novelist. She worked for TV station as dramatist

Bread Tree" made a hit. In 1995, she turned herself as a full-time writer.

Age: 58
Zheng Yuanjie (DOB: June 15, 1955) is a Chinese fairy tale writer. His
first issue – a children's literature magazine "King of Fairy Tales" was
published in 1984. Cartoon characters from his works including Pipilu,
Luxixi, Shuke, Beta and Luoke are well known among Chinese children. Zheng
was the richest Chinese writer in 2012.

Bestseller: "Frog” 《蛙》
Age: 58
Guan Moye (DOB: Feb 17, 1955), better known by his pen name Mo Yan,
claimed the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy credited
his writing skill by calling "with hallucinatory realism that merges folk
tales, history with the contemporary." His representative works include
"Red Sorghum," “Sandalwood Death”, “Big Breasts and Wide Hips” and “Frog”.

Age: 36
Jiang Nan (DOB: July 13, 1977) is a famous writer of fantasy fiction. He
took PHD program with science master Michael L. Gross at Washington
University after graduating from Peking University. He made his name with
his novel "When We Were Young" in 2000. His work is intricate, vivid and
inspiring.
