Colleagues,

I am including the 2007 film Assembly 集结号 in an undergraduate course, and
am looking for one or two English-language secondary readings to accompany
it. Can anyone suggest articles or chapters on war films as a genre in
Chinese cinema, or more broadly (and perhaps more interestingly) on the
role and representation of the PLA and military life within contemporary
Chinese culture?
