My Ph.D research deals with China¹s district and county direct elections,
especially those counties and districts under the authority of the
regional autonomy system in the ethnic areas. I am also interested in
local governance issues and the power relations between the state, local
congress deputies and local communities.  I hope to make use of Albert O.
Hirschman¹s theory of "exit, voice and loyality" in my analysis of China¹s
local and micro-politics. I would be very grateful for the titles of
book-length studies and/or journal articles that focus on any of these
