Zhu Yufu's poem was written in February of last year.

The Chinese Pen center reports the text as:

是时候了,中国人!是时候了
广场是大家的
脚是自己的
是时候用脚去广场作出选择
是时候了,中国人!是时候了
歌曲是大家的
喉是自己的
是时候用喉唱出心底的歌曲
是时候了,中国人!是时候了
中国是大家的
选择是自己的
是时候用自己选择未来的中国

for which I offer this translation:

It's time, people of China! It's time.
The Square belongs to everyone.
With your own two feet
It's time to head to the Square and make your choice.

It's time, people of China! It's time.
A song belongs to everyone.
From your own throat
It's time to voice the song in your heart.

It's time, people of China! It's time.
China belongs to everyone.
Of your own will
It's time to choose what China shall be.

Mr. Zhu's earlier arrests were (in 1998) for forming a political party and
(in 2007) for trying to interrupt a police officer's assault on his son
while the two of them were stopped in the street. That his latest offense
is to have written a poem suggests a certain progression in the official
interpretation of "subversion."

The structure reminds me a bit of the "tsunami form" (海啸体) poem "Lovable
China" (《可爱的中国》) by the poet Hai Xiao 海啸 that went viral in July
last year. Here's a link to one of many news articles about that incident,
which includes the poem itself at the end:

You can find the entire poem in Chinese here:

I didn't like the NYT's partial translation, so I quickly made this
translation for use in a class today:

“It’s Time”

It’s time, Chinese people! It’s time
The square belongs to us all
The feet are our own
It’s time to use our feet to go to the square and make a choice.

It’s time, Chinese people! It’s time
The song belongs to us all
The throats are our own
It’s time to use our throats to sing the song in our hearts

It’s time, Chinese people! It’s time
China belongs to us all
The choice is our own
It’s time to use ourselves to choose the future China
