I don't believe the moderator should censor any posts unless they attack
an individual. So you have me wrong, Joe.

I think, however, that posts should stay on topic for this list. There are
interesting controversies over whether early Christians actually practised
something that could be called "primitive Communism," or whether love
entered into it very much (as a Jew, I know a lot of instances when hatred
entered into it). But this isn't the list to discuss these very
interesting issues. And I do resent the implication that good behavior is
something invented by Christians, or that only they are capable of it, or
that they are somehow more capable of it than other human beings.

By "normal" I meant, as I said, generally found. "Normative" means
something quite different in usual discourse.

I believe anthropologists can confirm that as soon as human societies
progress beyond a very small family-based band, markets spring up and
commodities that are rare or in demand are collected for profit. And such
activities are not absent in families, either, as I think any parent can
confirm. (Anecdotes on request, but not on the list). That's what I meant
by capitalism as normal human behavior. It seems to me so uncontroversial
that I simply can't believe the response.

And now, no more on this subject -- at least from me!!
