David Dean Chair in Asian Studies
University of Virginia

The College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of the University of
Virginia seeks to recruit the inaugural holder of the David Dean Chair in
Asian Studies. The Chair is named in honor of David Dean, a distinguished
career foreign service officer and former Chairman of the American
Institute in Taiwan.

The search committee invites applications from senior scholars whose
research and teaching focus on the society, history, arts, literature, or
culture of China in any period. Candidates must have a distinguished
record of scholarship and teaching. A Ph.D. is required. The candidate
should hold the rank of Full Professor at the time of appointment,
although applicants at the rank of Associate Professor with exceptional
records of scholarship and teaching will be considered.
