Hi everyone,

Our advisor, Dr. Bibyk wanted me to pass along some information about The Innovation Studio here at OSU. They’re moving their makerspace into Hitchcock Hall next semester to get students involved in making, specifically through a challenge that could end up with your project being sent to the ISS! This is a great way to get ready for MakeOHI/O and maybe find a team or incubate an idea! More information below.

The Innovation Studio is thrilled to announce that the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) will be sponsoring the Challenge Track at the Innovation Studio’s<http://www.go.osu.edu/innovationstudio> next tour stop at the College of Engineering. CASIS<https://www.iss-casis.org/> is the is the manager of the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory<https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/nlab/index.html> and exists to maximize use of this unparalleled platform for innovation, which can benefit all humankind and inspire a new generation to look to the stars. Seizing an opportunity to capitalize on the diversity of knowledge at Ohio State and the spirit of interprofessional collaboration at The Innovation Studio, CASIS is challenging our students, faculty, and staff to “Develop a product, service, or solution that utilizes the International Space Station as a social enterprise.”

This challenge provides Ohio State students, faculty, and staff with an opportunity unlike any other, where top teams may be eligible to send their innovation to the International Space Station. We encourage you to save the date for the Innovation Studio Launch party on January 8th at noon. Greg Johnson, Astronaut, President and Executive Director of CASIS will be in attendance to officially propose the challenge.
