We are excited to announce that Christine Froula will be giving a lecture titled "Leslie Stephen Among the Women" on Friday, April 25th, 2025 at 7:00 PM (Turkey time).
In her talk, Christine will explore the lives of several women in Leslie Stephen’s private and public life, providing context for Virginia Woolf’s vivid autobiographical and fictional portrayals of the Stephen family.

Christine Froula, professor of English, Comparative Literature, and Gender Studies at Northwestern University (USA), past president of the International Virginia Woolf Society, and Life Member of Clare Hall, Cambridge, has published widely on interdisciplinary modernism, feminist and gender theory, and genetic criticism, including Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Avant-Garde: War, Civilization, Modernity (Columbia) and the co-edited annual Katherine Mansfield and Virginia Woolf (Edinburgh). Recent Woolf-related articles include “War, Peace, Internationalism,” “Unwriting The Waves,” “Thinking Sideways through One’s Sisters,” “Katherine’s Secrets,” “‘Dangerous Thoughts in Bloomsbury’: Fictions of Empire and British Aestheticism,” “The Zeppelin in the Sky of the Mind,” “Goldie’s ‘War and Peace’: Marinetti Meets Aristophanes and Beethoven in Bloomsbury,” “The Words” (experimental biofiction), and, forthcoming, “Late Bloomsbury’s Dialectic of Enlightenment.”
