[Vwoolf] Google alert of the week...John Maynard Keynes and eugenics

Thanks, Vara. This has been critiqued to some extent, but not enough, and
within Bloomsbury, it wasn't only Keynes. See, for example, Woolf's diary
entry from January 9, 1915, where she describes an unexpected crossing of
paths with residents of a local Kingston area care home: “[O]ne realized
that everyone in that long line was a miserable ineffective shuffling
idiotic creature [....] It was perfectly horrible. They should certainly be
killed.” I remember that Janet Lyon examines this in “On the Asylum Road
with Woolf and Mew,” *Modernism / modernity* 18:3 (September 2011): 551–74,
and I wonder if anyone else knows of Bloomsbury-specific criticism on the
issue?

Best,
Alice
