In The Selected Letters of Vanessa Bell (ed. Regina Marler, 1993) there is a
letter of 8 March 1909 in which Adrian is described as sitting with his eyes
shut, 'sunk in gloom', for three days (79-80). All three letters from VB to
Strachey included in that volume are in the British Library. Perhaps the
letter you want is there?

Dear Woolfians,

In Art and Affection, Panthea Reid refers to a letter from Vanessa Bell to
Lytton Strachey, 12 January 1910 (p.106) in which she talks about Adrian's
"complete breakdown."

There's no footnote, so I am assuming it is an unpublished letter, but I
can't figure out where it is held. My first guess was the Tate in the
Charleston Trust letters, but I can find no reference to it there.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you so much!

Danell
