Obviously there aren't any physical torments-- you agree, don't you? And yet we're in hell. And no one else will come here. We'll stay in this room together, the three of us, for ever and ever...In short, there's someone absent here, the official torturer. 

Il n'y a pas de torture physique, n'est-ce pas? Et cependant, nous sommes en enfer. Et personne ne doit venir. Personne. Nous resterons jusqu'au bout seuls ensemble. C'est bien ça? En somme, ily a quelqu'un qui manque ici : c'est le bourreau. 

INEZ: Dead! Dead! Dead! Knives, poison, ropes--useless. It has happened already, do you understand? Once and for all. So here we are, forever.
ESTELLE: Forever. My God, how funny! Forever.
GARCIN: For ever, and ever, and ever.
(A long silence.)
GARCIN: Well, well, let's get on with it...

INÈS Morte! Morte! Morte! Ni le couteau, ni le poison, ni la corde. C'est déjà fait, comprendstu? Et nous sommes ensemble pour toujours. Elle rit. 
ESTELLE, éclatant de rire. Pour toujours, mon Dieu que c'est drôle! Pour toujours! 
GARCIN, rit en les regardant toutes deux. Pour toujours ! 
Ils tombent assis, chacun sur son canapé. Un long silence. Ils cessent de rire et se regardent. Garein se lève. 
GARCIN Eh bien, continuons.
