I wonder if this is a very oblique ref. to the burial of the Unknown Soldier and the unveiling of the Cenotaph on 11 Nov 1920 – altho’ “The Times” said that “the weather was the best that a November day can give” (12 Nov, p. 12).  (King George V did not attend the ceremony on 11 Nov 1919 in front of the wooden cenotaph.)
