Hi all,

Thank you for this discussion of (and around) the recent Mrs. Dalloway pieces.

As most of you probably noticed, the Mrs. Dalloway pieces preview introductions, both written by contemporary novelists, to two new editions of Woolf’s novel. We already know about the Vintage edition (see previous discussions/critiques), but Jenny Offill’s piece will be featured in the Penguin Classics Deluxe edition: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/653391/mrs-dalloway-by-virginia-woolf-edited-by-stella-mcnichol-foreword-by-jenny-offill-introduction-and-notes-by-elaine-showalter/__;!!KGKeukY!iM0KLcIQ8pXtYap8WW_HhY2vaUnK_3gy_d5ebPaBk3kOAppNPegcO_c8amkobktPtoY$ . The edition will retain, at least according to the copyright page, Elaine Showalter’s 1992 introduction/notes. Almost thirty years separate Showalter’s work from Offill’s introduction.

Offill is the author of the novels Weather (2020), Department of Speculation (2014), and Last Things (2000). Here is her website: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://jennyoffill.com__;!!KGKeukY!iM0KLcIQ8pXtYap8WW_HhY2vaUnK_3gy_d5ebPaBk3kOAppNPegcO_c8amkoyEose-I$ .

Cheers,
Ben
