I can't resist saying the look of TLS November 15 2019, has changed
dramatically and there is a different slant -- but it's not yet clear
quite what it is, but in the meantime a wonderful essay by Frances Wade on
Virginia Woolf's apprenticeship and being centrally part of the literary
world in her 30 years of reviewing; on George Eliot; then a Virginia Woolf
essay (1956) on George Eliot, the opportunity a book on Eliot by John
Letts, and finally Rosemary Ashton: how Eliot pursued the right answers,

Often TLS issues over the past couple of years have contained the best
journalism on literature
of all the subscriptions I take.
