I have not read the review, but the projection of Vanessa as highly/over-sexed always reminds me to wonder how much sex she got after 1918 . . .

“Vanessa’s children (by her husband and at least one other lover)”
Maybe I am misreading this, but the reviewer seems to suggest Vanessa might have not noticed that she gave birth to another child by some unnamed “other” lover! 😉 I’ve begun seeing references elsewhere to Vanessa’s “many” lovers—as far as I know, Roger Fry, and Duncan Grant were it: is that mistaken?
According to a review in TIME, “Gill argues that Virginia always “distrusted and disliked” Clive Bell. I’m looking forward to reading her book to see what I missed in nearly six years’ researching Clive Bell’s biography!
Merry holidays.
