The Virginia Woolf Society of GB in collaboration with Waterstones are holding a Dallowday celebration on Saturday 17 June. We're starting with a guided walk led by Jean Moorcroft Wilson around sites relevant to Clarissa Dalloway and Virginia Woolf, followed by a discussion of the novel led by Maggie Humm, then an early evening party with a 1920s theme. We're hoping that a few people will turn up in appropriate party wear – Clarissa Dalloway’s ‘silver-green mermaid’s dress’ or Peter Walsh’s check suit, or even the Prime Minister’s gold lace!

Elaine Showalter says otherwise. According to her, #DallowayDay is today.

Wednesday in June is the mantra. According to Morris Beja, the date is June 20, 1923, the eve of Midsummer, the summer solstice-- when "everything had come to a standstill." Just a thought. Molly Hoff

Perfect. I have red and white roses in one vase and cut flowers floating in
bowls in two others. I'll try to share the photo I took...
Enjoy
