Τhanks so much for forwarding this, Mark! The broadcast has so many thrilling features--the testimonies and the voices... And Susan's contribution is great: she puts the sensationalist cliché equation genius-madness/suicide right by stressing Woolf's hard work and feminism alongside her innovative aesthetics.
warm greetings to allAngeliki

Subject: [Vwoolf] FW: Virginia Woolf/BBC world service

From: Susan Sellers [mailto:scs2 at st-andrews.ac.uk]

Dear Friends, The BBC world service did a feature on Virginia Woolf this morning, and have asked me to circulate the link as widely as possible in the hope it might go out through some of the Woolf networks. Audience figures are one of the few ways the BBC has of fighting back against the current round of cuts, so please do feel free to circulate/facebook/tweet to anyone you think might be interested. There is an archive feature which includes the voices of Woolf herself, Leonard, Vanessa Bell etc - with a quite wonderful piece by Elizabeth Bowen about Woolf's joyous laughter. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03p31g6It is the first item on this morning's 'The History Hour' on the BBC world service. With all very best wishes, Susan Susan Sellers, Professor of English and Related Literature, St Andrews University
