NOTES: TGU In Italian "The front cover ... depicts the rather
contradictory, maybe paradoxical, colour illustration of a housewife in an
open field, with blossoming trees, hanging out her washing ... It looks like
the cover of a nineteenth-century domestic novel, not that of a polemic
essay against patriarchy."

Adriana Bottini, the professional Italian translator of "Three Guineas"
occasionally edited out anything that might seem still too radical for a
contemporary Italian readership, such as ‘As a woman I want no country’.
