*1) NSF Research on Gender in Science and Engineering (GSE):* The National
Science Foundation has announced the due date for the next round of
Research Track submissions to the existing GSE solicitation (
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5475). From the RFP:

The program for Research on Gender in Science and Engineering (GSE) seeks
to build resources—developing the nation's knowledge capital, social
capital, and human capital—toward the goal of broadening the participation
of girls and young women in STEM education from kindergarten through
undergraduate education, with particular attention paid to transition
points in educational trajectories. The program also considers gender more
broadly to include research and diffusion activities focused on men and
boys who are underrepresented in STEM fields.**

*Research projects* investigate gender-based factors that impact learning
and choice in STEM education and the workforce; or study societal, formal
and informal educational systems' interaction with individuals that
encourage or discourage interest and persistence in study or careers in
certain STEM fields along gender lines.
Research proposals may request up to $525,000 for up to 3 years. Proposals
are due February 8.

*2) NSF Promoting Research and Innovation in Methodologies in Evaluation
(PRIME):* NSF has released (
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=503586). From the program
synopsis:

The PRIME program seeks to support research on evaluation with special
emphasis on exploring innovative approaches for determining the impacts and
usefulness of STEM education projects and programs; building on and
expanding the theoretical foundations for evaluating STEM education and
workforce development initiatives, including translating and adapting
approaches from other fields; and growing the capacity and infrastructure
of the evaluation field.

Funding levels vary by type of proposal: Exploratory ($250,000 over 2
years) and Full-Scale ($800,000 over 3 years). Proposals are due January 25.

*3) NSF Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer
Science:* NSF has announced the due date for the next round of submissions
to the existing solicitation (
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5736). From the program
synopsis:

Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer
Science program supports the active involvement of K-12 science,
technology, engineering, computer and information science, and mathematics
(STEM) teachers and community college faculty in engineering and computer
science research in order to bring knowledge of engineering, computer
science, and technological innovation into their classrooms.

RET Site proposals may request up to $500,000 for up to three years. RET
Supplements to existing ENG or CISE awards may request $10,000 to fund a
single teacher for one year. Proposals are due October 1, 2012.
