*1) NSF PIRE:* The release of the revised Partnerships for International
Research and Education (PIRE) RFP is due any day, and NSF has released a
"Dear Colleague Letter" that gives a preview of what's coming (
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=12819):

   - The 2011-12 PIRE competition will focus exclusively on the NSF-wide
   Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability (SEES) investment
   area (http://www.nsf.gov/geo/sees/)
   - PIRE will be a limited-submission competition (1 proposal/institution)
   - Full proposals will be due in October
   - An informational webinar will be held July 28
