The data I'm presenting deals directly with characterizing and discussing sexual assault, specifically on college campuses. Survivors and perpetrators are talked about in-depth, legislation is discussed, and there are some less-than-okay comments that characterize what sexual assault is and isn't, that victim blame or shame explicitly, that privilege perpetrators ahead of survivors, and more. While I won't be bringing anything wildly graphic in in terms of example comments, some of them are still pretty hard to stomach, especially en masse. I just want to make it clear that I honor anyone who might need to excuse themselves totally from the discussion that day verbally or physically, or who might need to step out at any time to take a breather for any reason. It's a hard topic to talk about, especially knowing that healing from assaults looks different for everyone and can take any amount of time. I look forward to a productive, respectful, thoughtful discussion!
