I can't go to this, but I'm hoping some So Meaners can go and report back.

Subject: [Sbigml] Lecture on Judgment Accuracy

The OSU Social Psychology program is pleased to announce that this year's Ostrom Scholar, Dr. Philip Tetlock of the
University of Pennsylvania, will be giving a talk this Thursday, September 27th at 4:00PM in the Psychology Building
room 035.  Dr. Tetlock will give a talk titled "When Worldviews Collide: What Do We Really Know About the Accuracy of
Real-world Judgments?" (Abstract below).

Accompanying this invitation is a flyer about the lecture. We sincerely hope you will be able to attend!

Abstract: There are massive bodies of experimental research on cognitive biases in researcher-designed laboratory
tasks but surprisingly little is known about the determinants and correlates of accuracy in high-stakes real-world
judgment tasks. This talk will provide an overview of past research on the accuracy of expert political judgment as
well as the most recent findings from a large-scale forecasting tournament sponsored by the Intelligence Advanced
Research Projects Agency.
