[Prep Lab Students] Science Olympiad Volunteer Opportunity

Hi everyone,

We’re looking for volunteers for the Ohio Science Olympiad State Tournament on Saturday, April 18th. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will be hosting four events on the second floor of Celeste, and we’d love to have your help!

Morning Session (7:30 a.m. – noon)
High School – Forensics (Event Supervisors: Dr. Fontes & Josh)

Afternoon Sessions (noon – ~5:00 p.m.)
Middle School – Crime Busters (Event Supervisors: Dr. Opoku & Rebekah)
Middle School – Potions & Poisons (Event Supervisors: Dr. Sarah & Emma)
High School – Chemistry Lab (Event Supervisors: Dr. Jackman & Matt)

I’ve attached a short PDF guide that walks through the sign-up process.

Volunteers help with things like proctoring, grading, swapping lab materials between sessions, and quick cleanup at the end of the event.

As a thank-you for helping out, volunteers receive:

A boxed lunch (usually a sandwich, chips, and a cookie)
  *
The chance to spend part of a Saturday with Tyler, Dr. Sarah, Emma, Dr. Fontes, Dr. Opoku, Dr. Jackman, and the rest of the crew in Celeste

If you’ve already signed up to volunteer but were hoping to be placed in one of our events and weren’t, please reply to both the event coordinator and us so we can make sure you’re placed appropriately.
