[Preplabstudents] Spring 2025- Week 1

Howdy y’all!

We hope you had a safe and relaxing winter break! Today is the first day of the “spring” semester. Since today is a snow day, and the prep lab is closed, we will begin following our spring schedule tomorrow, Tuesday January 7th.

The schedule for this week is below. Note that only 1208 is meeting this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Experiment Notes-Refer to the window notes and gather sheets for additional details.

OPH
No chemicals will be used. Goggles will be available in the lab room for TAs to distribute. The lab manuals for this course are not yet in. TAs should not need to pick up anything from the lab support window. Blue recycling barrels will be placed outside of all labs to collect goggle boxes.

Other Important Information

Goggles
If students need goggles that fit over their glasses, they can swap their “normal” goggles at the window for a pair of OTG goggles. If the OTG goggles still don’t work, we have a small number of other options they can try. These are in a small white bucket in each window.

If a student is not enrolled in Chem 1110, 1208, 1210, or 1250 and has never taken a chemistry course on OSU’s Columbus campus, they may stop by the window and get a pair of goggles for free. If they have taken chemistry on the Columbus campus before, they need to purchase a pair from Chem Stores, 180 Celeste.

Everyone should be keeping an eye out for goggle box litter. Please help keep our trash under control by picking up anything you see. Extra trash bags are available in both windows. Please tie off blue recycling barrel bags and replace them as necessary.

First Floor Restrooms
The first-floor restrooms are still under construction. Please continue to use the restrooms on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, or in McPherson, Newman-Wolfram, or Evans.

Addressing Items from the Prep Lab Survey
I will be sending out a follow-up email this week detailing plans to address the items noted in the prep lab survey results.
