Experiment Notes-Refer to the window notes for additional details.
SHM- Materials will be available on the reagent cart. Cups and lids will be in a red dispenser by the balances. When completing lab readiness checks, please keep an eye on this and refill, as necessary. Additional cups and lids are available in the window.
EMS- Sophie and Alec will have set these up on the bench beside Hood A. Replacement parts are available in the window.
SCM- Be prepared to hand out lots of burets, pipets, blue bulbs, and beakers. Remember that the pipets, blue bulbs, and beakers are available on the window cart. Please refill the window cart when things start to get low.
FPD- Freezing point apparatus will be on the reagent carts. Replacement parts will be in the windows. Note that the inner tubes in this apparatus is just the 50 mL tubes we keep on the window cart.
SAL- clear microcentrifuge tubes will be available on the reagent cart.
Other Important Information-
Wearing PPE in the office
Please remember that nobody should be wearing their PPE in the office space. The office space is a clean area where eating is permitted. If we continue to see PPE being worn in these spaces, we will no longer be permitted to eat in the office space.
Mini Daily Sheet in 130
As mentioned in the GroupMe, we now have a mini daily sheet in 130. Our hope is that this can be referenced when in the lab so you don’t have to take your PPE off to look at the big version in the office.
Laminated “this experiment uses a blue bucket” cards
We tend to struggle with remembering to put up the blue buckets for experiments that use them. We now have blue laminated cards, kept with the pink and yellow gather signs. The blue card should be included in the bin for any new gather that uses a blue bucket. The gather sheet will note if a blue bucket is needed.
Additional information about ice
We’re going to go through A TON of ice this week. The third floor will need coolers of ice. The second floor will use the ice machine by the bathrooms.
Again, if the coolers need refilled, please call down to let us know. Place the cooler in the elevator and we’ll send it back up once filled.
Please keep an eye on the second-floor ice machine. Students tend to pull ice from the front, leaving a mound in the back that tricks the machine into thinking it’s still full. Periodically use the scoop to flatten the remaining ice so there is room for fresh ice to be made.
That said, if the machine is getting precariously low, call down or send a message in the GroupMe. We will bring up a couple buckets of ice from the prep lab or Evans to bridge the gap and allow the machine to catch up with demand.
Best,
Tyler
