[Preplabstudents] Week 12 & More

Hi Everyone,

Week 12 (Nov. 7th – 11th)

Our hours will be 7:30 am – 6:00 pm. Next week all gen chem courses will have lab on Monday, and honors will have lab on Tuesday and Thursday. We will begin our cleaning and end of semester tasks next week. Note that November 11th is a University holiday, offices will be closed.

November 14th – January 6th

Our hours will be 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. You are all expected to work up until the beginning of final exams. We will be open through winter break, and those staying in Columbus are welcome to continue working.

December 8th

Please join us at 3:00 pm on December 8th for a combined Gen Chem TA/Prep Lab/Demo Lab party in 1015 McPherson Lab. We have ordered lots of snacks, and plan to make liquid nitrogen ice cream.

Evening Shifts

Those that normally have evening shifts are welcome to move their hours to daytime shifts for the rest of the semester. Please reach out to me if you are interested in this.

If this is your last semester in the Prep Lab…

If this is your last semester in the Prep Lab, please let me know when you plan to work your last shift. I will start the termination process for you in Workday. I will also remove you from the spring Shifts schedule.

Spring Scheduling

We will be doing our scheduling a bit differently for spring. I have now added all of you to the Spring 2023 Shifts calendar.

If you navigate to the first week in January, you should see several “open shifts”. Please request the shifts you would like by selecting each 30-minute increment necessary. Each person is required to schedule a minimum of 12 hours per week with a maximum of 18. Other arrangements are possible but must be approved by me. Please keep in mind that little flexibility will be given for last minute call offs and permanent switches once the semester begins. So, please choose your spots carefully. Be sure to account for any second session classes you may have enrolled in.

Note that we are just using the first week of January for scheduling purposes. You will be expected to follow the spring schedule starting Jan. 9th.
