Dear Deans and Associate Deans for Research,

The public’s trust in academic research relies upon all those involved in scholarly activity adhering to the highest ethical standards, including standards related to the publication of findings and conclusions and assigning authorship on a scientific or scholarly manuscript or creative expression activity. On behalf of Abby Norris Turner (chair of University Research Council (URC)) and Purnima Kumar (former chair of the URC), please see the Authorship Guidelines and Worksheet<https://orc.osu.edu/files/osu_authorship_guidelines.pdf>, which provides important guidance about assigning authorship. These guidelines were created after extensive input and review by the URC. All faculty, staff, students, and researchers, are strongly encouraged to review, utilize and distribute these guidelines.
