Agenda for Physics Graduate Open House for prospective student visit

Below please find our agenda for our Open House this Sunday/Monday March 24-25. We are expecting 43 students to attend and we will be keeping them very busy.
Special Thanks goes out to our students on the PGSC for all of their assistance with this event and an big Thank You to all of our administrative staff who have all pitched in this year to help as we are without our 2nd Grad Studies staff person.

Program for the OSU PHYSICS OPEN HOUSE March 24-25, 2019
Sunday, March 24th
1:25 pm Springhill Suites board OSU CABS bus to go to Physics Research Building (PRB)
1:50 pm - Pick up Welcome Folders

2:00 pm- Welcome from Prof. Perry, Chair of Undergraduate Studies

2:10 pm - Event logistics - Kris Dunlap, Physics Grad Studies Program Coordinator

2:25 pm - Introductions -Everyone
2:45 pm - Code of Conduct -Prof. Zeke Johnston-Halperin, Chair of Physics Committee for Climate & Diversity

3:00 pm - Grad Program and Overview of Research Areas - Prof. Jon Pelz, Chair of Physics Graduate Studies & Research

3:50 pm - Break

4:00 pm - Walking tour of campus highlights
4:30 pm - Dr. Heimaster on Physics computing resources
4:40 pm - Presentation & Discussion by the Physics Graduate Student Council (PGSC)
5:55 pm - walk over to the Blackwell Hotel ballroom on 2nd floor using their back entrance from patio area
6:00 pm - 7:20 pm - Buffet dinner in the hotel ballroom  -seating is preassigned by research area & seats held for OSU faculty and students
7:30 pm -Board OSU CABS bus in near the PRB on 19th Ave to go to Springhill Suites by Marriott

8:00 pm  -Board bus to go to optional social event Old North Arcade 2591 N. High St.

8:15 pm - Old North Arcade - 8pm departure for arcade where Physics Graduate Student Council & other current physics grad students will host an optional social event. This is an opportunity to meet and talk with some of our students and have fun too.

9:30 pm  -Board bus return to Springhill Suites by Marriott

Monday, March 25th
8:20 am Springhill Suites-board OSU CABS bus to go to Pfahl Hall (by Blackwell Hotel) 2nd floor hallway
8:30 am - 9:45 am - Breakfast at Pfahl Hall 2nd floor

9:45 am  -Walk to the Physics Research Building via local North campus highlights
10:00 am - 12:15 pm - Physics department research area poster/information session

10:25 am - 11 -Astronomy Coffee (Astro Coffee) -meet by PRB South doors to be escorted to Astronomy building

12:20 - Board OSU CABS bus in front of PRB on 19th Ave to go to North Market 59 Spruce St.

12:50 - 1:55- Lunch at the North Market in the Short North district - visitors will pay for their lunch to be reimbursed via a per diem.
2:00 pm - Board bus to go to OSU-PRB
2:30 pm - 5:00 pm - Meetings with faculty from areas of interest
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm -Women in Physics -drop in for chat hour PRB 4138 (North end of 4th floor)
4:00 pm - 4:45 pm -Condensed Matter Coffee - location 2nd floor South Bridge area
4:00 pm - 4:30 pm - NSL Lab Tours - meet in Atrium by South stairs by NSL poster
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm - HEDP group lab tour -Lab 4101
5:15 pm - 6:15pm - Pizza with current graduate students
6:30 pm - Board OSU CABS Bus in front of PRB on 19th ave to go to Springhill Suites.

7:15 pm  -Board bus to go to optional social event Endeavor Brewing Company 909 W 5th Ave

8:00 pm  - Endeavor Brewing Company

9:30 pm  -Board bus return to Springhill Suites by Marriott
