up-date RE: Changes to Front Office Staff

All,

Happy New Year and an up-date regarding "Changes to Front Office Staff".  First, we interviewed two candidates for the Senior Grants Manager and in the process of  checking references.

Second, Rachel is working at the college, thankfully she is providing back-up coverage (mostly approvals on eRequest and eTravel (not instantly and working remotely), while we work to fill the Fiscal Officer position.  The job has posted and now the college is reviewing 1st round of candidates.

So again, we continue running with a reduced Front Office Staff and hope to have these positions filled soon.  I request that you factor this into your planning and ask that you continue to be patient as we work to conduct operations and juggle priorities.

Subject: Changes to Front Office Staff


    Dear Colleagues,

     I want to make you aware of several changes coming to the Front Office staff.   First, the position previously held by Martina (Gutik) Dean will be replaced by a Senior Grants Manager.  This position will be housed in the Physics Department but report to the College Research office.  The position will provide some of the services previously handled by Martina but, in addition, will provide support for department grants, both post- and pre-award.  I  believe the department will benefit from this additional expertise as we continue to expand our grant portfolio and pursue large block grants.  This position will post tomorrow and review of candidates will follow.

     Second, Rachel Schrock has recently accepted a new position with the College Financial Team. Rachel has been an excellent asset for the department and we wish her well in her new position.  We are fortunate that she is not going too far away and can still have a positive impact on the department.  We plan to begin a search for a Fiscal Officer position in the coming weeks.

    We have been running with a reduced Front Office Staff for some time now. This will continue until these positions are filled.  I request that you factor this into your planning and ask that you continue to be patient as we work to conduct operations.
