Plan of Action

    Dear Colleagues,

    Yesterday, I meet with the Provost, the Interim Executive Dean, and the Divisional Dean to discuss the department’s Plan of Action.  Overall, the feedback I received was very positive. I believe they recognized the serious effort that the department put into this process.  The Provost was especially pleased with the hiring plan and stated that fact several times.  As you might expect, no promises were made regarding resources.  Nonetheless, I believe we have a clearly documented and articulated plan that we can use to justify our requests for resources in the coming years.  When the new Exec. Dean arrives on campus, we will need to work to inform him or her about our department and our future plans.

     I want to thank everyone for their hard work on this entire process.  It was a tremendous amount of work that took years.  Our level of effort was very apparent to  the university leadership.  We can be proud of the plan we put together.  However, at this point it is only a plan.  Now, we need to put in the effort to carry it out.
