     I was informed that Emeritus Professor John Wilkins passed away earlier today at the age of 83.  John joined the department in 1988 coming from Cornell.  He was an Ohio Eminent Scholar and specialized in condensed matter theory.  He was an active member in the department until his retirement in 2017.  John served on many university committees, journal editorial boards, and national professional committees.  He had a lasting impact on the department and the university as a whole.   I will share more information as it becomes available.
