Reminder: C&D Town Hall Wednesday, 4/17, 3:30 pm Smith Seminar Room

Dear colleagues,

As the subject lines indicates, this is another quick reminder that Climate and Diversity will be holding a department-wide Town Hall meeting tomorrow, 3:30 pm, SSR. Based on requests from the community, the two topics to be discussed will be:

1. Mental health concerns for PhD students and postdocs: What resources are currently in place, what initiatives are planned/under way, what else could we be doing as a department to address this challenge?

2. How we, as a department, define climate and equity: For example, at what point do individuals having negative experiences constitute an overall negative climate for the department? An individual? 10% of our community? More than 50%? How might we ensure equitable treatment of individuals in interactions between subgroups of our department (i.e. between instructional staff, lecturers, TAs, faculty, within research groups, etc.)?
