[NEWS] Advance Notice - Additional Energy Conservation Measures Coming Soon to PRB

Several energy conservation measures (ECM) projects at the Physics Research Building are under active development by the University through its new energy management partners.

These projects will begin soon, will evolve rapidly, and will be completed by the end of this calendar year.

ECMs currently planned are focused mainly on heating and cooling water, steam consumption and control, and exhaust heat recovery and demand control.

Most of the ECM work will be done behind the scenes in the basement main mechanical room and in many cases will be transparent to end users.

As in past ECM projects, details will be carefully planned and announced well in advance of actual construction or any related service interruption or system outage.

In the meantime, the Department recommends that occupants review the links below to gain a better understanding of the overall energy management approach now in place at OSU.

In addition to reviewing the above links, the Department encourages groups to communicate any special needs foreseen in the next several months related to environmental conditions in labs.

Special needs may include items such as the following:

-  Unusually long duration research or prep campaigns.

-  Research leading to conference presentations at particular times.

-  Research linked to time-sensitive collaboration milestones.

-  Other noteworthy items that groups may want to share with the project planning team.

Such special needs will be added to the Departments normal needs and expectations for project performance and included in the planning efforts currently underway.
