Network outage Monday Aug. 13 8pm-12m

On Monday night, OCIO will replace the ASCTech server room SonicWall 
firewall with OCIO’s standard firewall. It is a substantially faster 
firewall, with lower latency and higher bandwidth. Unfortunately, their 
first two attempts, back in July, ran into problems and they had to roll 
back. The change will produce an expected outage of up to one hour, 
affecting all of our VPN, file, print, and web services. We are 
allocating a maintenance window from 8PM until midnight to allow for 
debugging unexpected difficulties. Operations’ Infrastructure team will 
be running tests, so we should notice issues quickly.  If you notice any 
problems that persist beyond the 8:00 PM to midnight window, please 
submit a ticket via email to action at physics.osu.edu.
