Dear Physics Department Staff,
I want to announce a new effort regarding professional development for staff members. The department will allocate a portion of its budget to support professional development activities. A simple one-page request form (see attached) has been created for this purpose. Requests will be taken on an ongoing basis and will be evaluated and prioritized by the Administrative Management Team (AMT). These opportunities are separate from training programs, which address necessary technical skills for your current position. There are professional development opportunities both on and off campus. As examples of on-campus resources, consider:

http://glenn.osu.edu/training/maps/

While there is no defined limit to the cost, more expensive opportunities will be evaluated carefully for necessity and appropriateness of the program. I hope you consider ways to further develop your skills and enhance your career goals.
Best regards,
Brian
