Physics network outage Dec. 20

On December 20th the ASC network firewall will be converted to an OCIO 
firewall at the perimeter. Downtime is scheduled from 8pm until midnight.

This affects both PRB and Smith Lab. In fact, it affects all of the 
College of Arts and Sciences.

We expect this change to improve reliability and performance.

During this time there will be no network access outside the building, 
and to ASC central services.

Services outside the ASC network, that *WILL* work _if you are outside 
the building_ (OSU Wireless counts as outside the building):

    BuckeyeMail, University Email System, u.osu.edu, TeamDynamix (Help 
Desk System), Canvas, and Faculty Center.

Local ASC services, that may *NOT* work even locally, due to the way 
traffic routes:

    ASC Research Storage, Printers, fox, helios, Physics web servers 
(physics.osu.edu, www.physics.ohio-state.edu, DES, CCAPP, Nuclei, PGSC, 
radiorm)

If you are running a background or batch job using Physics storage, 
there is a good chance these should continue. Jobs on Unity should also 
not be affected.
