It may be some months ahead of August 5-7, but those of us preparing for the Pelotonia cycling event are already gearing up - many of us from around the College of Arts & Sciences are participating in various ways: as Riders, "Virtual" Riders and Volunteers, to raise funds for cancer research right here at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Since 2009, Pelotonia has raised over $106 million - and the research projects funded by the event are yielding great work toward that goal. A significant number of Pelotonia Fellowships (for undergraduates, graduates and postdocs) have already been funded in the College of Arts & Sciences.
We'd love to have you join us on Team ASC for Pelotonia 16, and we're holding an information session this Thursday, June 2, from noon to 1pm. Come have lunch with us, and find out why we're so many of us participate in Pelotonia year after year, why this incredible community is passionate about ending cancer, and money from donations goes into these critical research projects to bring an end to this group of diseases. Here are the details:
WHAT: Information Session about Pelotonia 16, for all Physics faculty, staff and students -- LUNCH PROVIDED
WHERE: Smith Seminar Room, Physics Research Building
WHEN: 12:00-1:00pm, Thursday, June 2, 2016
**RSVP TO: Terry Bradley (bradley.77/2-8598/PRB1199) - please respond by close-of-biz today, Tuesday, May 31
As captain of Team ASC, and a multi-year Pelotonia rider, my commitment to this goal actually increases from year to year. I've made friends for life through Pelotonia, and I know I've been a part of something much bigger than me. Please join us on Thursday - or if you can't make the information session, contact me and I can answer any questions/tell you more!
Thanks,
Terry
