April ASPIRE workshop

Hi All,

For the past few years my group has been organizing the ASPIRE (Achieving in Science through Physics Instrumentation, Research and Exploration) workshop for STEM-interested high school young women as part of my NSF CAREER grant.  The next ASPIRE workshop will be this coming April 12, 14, 19 and 21.  If you know young women who would be interested in this April’s workshop, or if you know someone who’d be able to distribute the attached flyer to local high schools/interested parties, we would greatly appreciate it.  The workshop is for young women in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.

This April’s ASPIRE workshop will be held here in the PRB, where the participants will learn to use equipment and tools common in physics research, such as oscilloscopes and Mathematica in a series of radio-themed projects.  They will be introduced to analysis of data from the ANITA experiment, and learn to program an Arduino microcontroller.  Participants will also learn about OSU research from students and other young researchers on campus who are already making exciting contributions, and make presentations summarizing their own work.
