Hello,
This week and next week (Tuesdays and Thursdays starting tomorrow), we will be hosting five high school young women for our next ASPIRE workshop (u.osu.edu/aspire<http://u.osu.edu/aspire>). We have a smaller response to our spring workshop than for the summer, but we are excited about engaging these enthusiastic young scientists. The ASPIRE workshop is supported by my NSF CAREER grant and was designed to bridge the age gap between the GRASP participants and college applicants. We aim to give the students an introduction to physics instrumentation and analysis through three radio-themed projects.
You may see the students working on their projects in the Smith Seminar Room or in the Atrium during the four days of the workshop. In fact, they will be working on an oscilloscope “Find the Pulser” project in the Atrium as tomorrow’s colloquium is letting out. Thanks in advance for helping me welcome these guests to our department!
Cheers,
Amy
