Network + Storage Outage Friday 10/10 5:30pm - Saturday 6pm

Please note there are 2 major computing environment upgrades planned for Friday 10/10/14 5:30PM to Saturday 6pm affecting PRB/Smith networking and department storage.

1) Network upgrade to new firewall Saturday 10/11 @10:00am-6:00pm. This may result in brief drops of our network to outside the department during this window.

2) Storage upgrades Friday 10/10 5:30 pm - Saturday 6:00pm the following will be unavailable:

# Windows department file shares (Z Drive, others)

# Linux home directories

# Research group shares (served from PCF services)

# Physics personal websites (http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~username)

We strongly encourage you to LOG OUT of your department/lab DESKTOPs and SERVERs to avoid any issues with UNSAVED documents by Friday 10/10 @5pm. If you have forgotten to logout please reboot Monday (10/13) morning and it should resolve any issues due to the outage.

If there are any MAJOR conflicts with these dates/times please let us know or make other arrangements to get your data before this outage.
