The SWIP Mentoring program will kick off next Thursday, October 30th, at
Physics TEA hosted at 4 pm in the atrium.

We encourage ALL interested graduate students, postdocs, and faculty (male
and female!) to attend this kick off event to learn more about the benefits
of participating in the program. The goal of this program is to provide an
outlet for discussing the issues that arise as a physics student: applying
to graduate school/fellowships/post doc position/industry, balance of
research/school/life, professional and career development, and many others.
As a graduate student, you can opt to either be a mentor to an
undergraduate student, or be a mentee paired with an older graduate
student, post doc, or faculty, or (the best option) be both. The time
commitment is small: you are required to have a meeting once a month and be
generally available for questions and advice. This is a great way to get
involved with the department. The kick off event is a general interest /
Q&A session to explain the many reasons you should be a part of the
mentoring program. By attending the kick off event, you are not committing
to participate in the program, although the goal is to convince you to do
so.

This program is run by SWIP and all questions should be directed to the
mentor program coordinator: Sara Mueller (mueller.352 at osu.edu)
