Science to Words

Abstract: The language of science — especially physics! — is math. But you'll almost never see an integral sign, a Greek letter, an exponent, or even an equal sign in The New York Times. Although science writers, like scientists, want to convey information accurately, precisely explaining scientific findings to a general audience is impossible. So what is possible? I will explain what I try to do with words when I write a science article and what I hope you come away with when you read what I write. Plus: some tips about what to say if I call asking about your research.
