Full Department
The OSU APS IDEA team would like to invite you to complete the tri-annual departmental self-assessment survey on your perception of different parts of our department. Your answers will help us understand how our department is perceived to be doing on issues that are important for student success. The link below takes you to a survey in Qualtrics that is anonymous and takes about 20 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey you can choose to be included in a raffle of OSU Physics Department tumblers. Thank you for your participation.

Undergraduate Students
2024 Department of Physics Summer Research Program
We are now accepting applications for the 2024 Department of Physics Summer Research Program for undergraduate students.
Program details: The program provides students with a $5,000 scholarship to work with a physics faculty member on a research project during summer 2024. Students are expected to work an average of 30 hours per week May 13 through July 19 which is 10 weeks. Participants are required to attend two social monthly lunches – one in May and one in June – as well as present during a poster session that will take place in mid-July. Students will also have the option to participate in other professional and social activities available throughout the summer. Please note that this is a competitive program and it’s possible that not all applicants will be accepted.
Qualifications: This program is open to current OSU undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Physics major or the Engineering Physics major and are in good academic standing (overall GPA above a 2.0). Students who are graduating in May 2024 are not eligible.
Application components: To apply for the scholarship, a student must complete and submit an application and an agreement form (pages 3-4 of the application packet<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/osu.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c5c8b9e4c4ea0024e7b8c1d6a&id=11bcd1c749&e=8d1098595f__;!!KGKeukY!xBMyu0ruXMO38hyeSBosgK3R9R-Gcd88HeuzzEVqr5ue8o2UljDyn3CtwiPLgR-7gFTMdpo2wShL1eCxhA$>). Supporting faculty will submit a faculty endorsement form (page 5 of the application packet<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/osu.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c5c8b9e4c4ea0024e7b8c1d6a&id=c6e1788907&e=8d1098595f__;!!KGKeukY!xBMyu0ruXMO38hyeSBosgK3R9R-Gcd88HeuzzEVqr5ue8o2UljDyn3CtwiPLgR-7gFTMdpo2wSh4jh6o_g$>) and a short letter of support for the student.

We encourage you to evaluate your own situation and determine how best to utilize the following tools available on this site. For those who are uncertain, we recommend starting with Explore.

  * Explore - You will identify your values, skills and interests before exploring the many career paths available to you
  * Develop – As you narrow in on a career path of interest, gain relevant experience, build valuable skills and grow your professional network
  * Prepare + Pursue – You will learn how to craft strong professional materials tailored to each position, interview effectively and negotiate job offers
