SWiP Autumn 2021 Welcome Back

Hello everyone,

Welcome back from the Society for Women in Physics (SWiP)! We are a student organization of undergraduate and graduate students focused on supporting women in physics and astronomy. We host regular SWiP Chats, which are discussions about topics relevant to women in physics, as well as occasional speakers, social events, or outreach events. This semester, we will be holding SWiP Chats twice a month on Thursday at 4:30 in both PRB 4138 and on Zoom.

Our first SWiP Chat is this Thursday, August 26 at 4:30pm. It will be in both PRB4138 and on Zoom  (https://osu.zoom.us/j/92585480440?pwd=Yy83K1JTR1dvdnllV0tHN3NMeWNnQT09, full Zoom information below). This will be a relaxed, welcome back event with games and a brief introduction to SWiP and future events. Everyone, regardless of position or gender, is welcome!

In accordance with university guidance and in an effort to keep everyone safe, we will be holding hybrid SWiP Chats for the foreseeable future. Every meeting will be held both in PRB 4138 and on Zoom Based on your comfort level and availability, you can attend either way. We will make sure all activities and discussions work in both contexts. This structure may change as the situation evolves and we follow university guidance.

Every SWiP Chat, we feature a woman's contribution to science through our "Scientist of the Week." All past scientists are featured on our website at https://u.osu.edu/swip/resources/scientists-of-the-week/ and are a useful resource if you want to learn more about women in science. If you know of any amazing women scientists that we should highlight, please let us know!
