Hello all,

This Friday we will be hearing from Professor Michael Ratz of The University of California Irvine, who will speak on non-thermal neutrino backgrounds and has been invited by Professor Raby. Please join us this Friday and give Michael a warm welcome!

Friday, March 2nd
1:30 PM
Room 4138, Physics Research Building

Speaker: Professor Michael Ratz
Title: Nonthermal Neutrino Background
Abstract: It is widely believed that photons are the most abundant species of the Universe. In this talk, it will be shown that neutrinos may be more abundant than photons. An explicit scenario is presented in which the right-handed components of Dirac neutrinos get produced nonthemally, thus leading to more neutrinos than photons, which is consistent with all observational constraints. Challenges and prospects for detecting this nonthermal neutrino background will also be discussed.
