Love 4 Puerto Rico Fundraiser tomorrow at Ohio Union!

Hello Buckeye Students, Faculty & Staff!

My name is Liane Davila-Martin, I'm a Public Health graduate student and the president of the Puerto Rican Student Association (PRSA) here at Ohio State.

On September 20th, 2017, Hurricane María completely devastated Puerto Rico, leaving 3.4 million Americans without power, without clean water, and many without their homes. Even after 5 months, Puerto Rico is still a long way from recovery. Last October, PRSA organized a fundraiser and supply drive where under 8 hours we were able to collect over $2,500 and fill a semi-truck with supplies that was taken the next week directly to Puerto Rico for disaster relief efforts. But it seems like the U.S. territory has been forgotten as we barely don't hear about it in the news.

Tomorrow, the Puerto Rican Stundet Association at OSU, in collaboration with other Latinx/Hispanic Student organizations and OSUnidos, we'll be doing another fundraiser for Puerto Rico! On Wednesday, February 21st, in the spirit of Valentine's month,  "Love for Puerto Rico / Amor para Puerto Rico" Fundraiser will take place in the Multicultural Center at the Ohio Union from 9am to 6pm. All proceeds will go to Hispanic Federation UNIDOS to meet hurricane-related needs and recovery in Puerto Rico. We would love to have different colleges and departments at Ohio State to spread the word about our fundraiser in hope to bring awareness about the current state of our beautiful island, our home, and to raise funds for those families and children in need.
