[ALERT] Weekend Reboiler Failure at PRB - Loss of Humidity and Domestic Hot Water

[Physics facility information]

A rupture of a main pressure boundary flange on the reboiler serving the PRB occurred late Saturday evening and resulted in an emergency shutdown of this system by FOD technicians.

The reboiler serves to create the steam needed in the humidity-adding system and also serves to create the heat energy used by the domestic hot water system.

While the reboiler is offline, occupants should anticipate dryer than normal ambient humidity conditions throughout the building.  Occupants should further anticipate a lack of hot water at all sinks.

Repairs are underway beginning today and a follow-up message will be sent when the repairs are complete.  An estimated time for completion of the repairs is not known at this time.

A planned maintenance outage remains as previously scheduled for Wednesday of this week and will be announced a final time under separate e-mail transmission.
