(This is an update to the course announcement sent in the spring.)
This is a 1-semester course given in Fall 2014, which will begin with
teaching the basic structure of general relativity. This includes learning
about tensors, curvature, and the formulation of Einstein's equations. We
will then apply these equations to learn about gravitational waves, extra
dimensions, black holes and Cosmology; in particular we will learn the
basics of inflation.
The course is being taught in a modern lab room which is equipped with
computer technology The students can use these tools to plot manifold
shapes and solve equations in mathematica during the class.
