Hello Physics Friends,
This September 7, I'll be swim/run/biking a half-ironman distance triathlon. Yikes. For motivation while I'm training, I'll be raising money for K-12 science projects over at DonorsChoose.org<http://www.donorschoose.org/>. This is a fantastic organization - ranked one of the top 50 most innovative new companies<http://www.fastcompany.com/3017782/most-innovative-companies-2011/21donorschooseorg> - that directly connects kids and classrooms in need of school supplies to donors. They've raised nearly $250 million to support classroom projects, often at high poverty schools. If you donate even $1, they'll send you photos of the students taking part in the project and a letter from the teacher (that way you know your money was used responsibly). For donations over $50, you can expect a hand-written thank you from the students themselves!
Check out my blog "Sciathlon<http://sciathlon.blogspot.com/>" where I plan to share stories about how science has impacted my life. I'll also be highlighting exciting projects that need our help on my donor page<http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=20424013&utm_source=dc&utm_medium=viewchallenge&utm_campaign=copyURL&rf=copyURL-siteshare-2014-07-viewchallenge-donor>. Please consider supporting a teacher with a great idea, and the passion to share science with a classroom of eager young student scientists!
Thanks for your support!
Andy Berger
