Subject: [Pedfac] MIrrored Images in MiPACs
Hi All,
There has been a recent increase in radiographs being mirror images of what they should be. It appears to be random, and is not tied to any one machine or person. I had IT come and verify that MiPACs was not the culprit. After evaluating the images (which do appear a little lighter than they should) and thinking through our process, I believe the problem is that radiographs have been placed in the sleeves backwards. This causes the image to be mirrored when it is scanned by the plate scanner in the correct direction.
I have notified Erika, who will let staff know what is happening and will remind them to verify appropriate orientation of the plate prior to exposure. If you are taking radiographs, please make sure the plate is in the sleeve correctly, and the correct side of the plate is being exposed. Additionally, please ensure that once the radiographs is taken, it is not mirrored. This could be rather challenging with bitewings, so please be vigilant. Hopefully we can resolve this issue at the source and the incidence of this will be reduced. If you do find a radiograph that is mirrored in MiPACs, please let me know so I can track the problem, and mirror the image to the appropriate orientation.
Thank you!
-Dan
